My book proposal for a narrative history of Dawson, New Mexico, has been accepted by the University of New Mexico Press. Publication is planned for 2023 to coincide with the 100-year anniversary of the 1923 mine disaster, the second of two in a 10-year span that together claimed the lives of nearly 400 men. With a death toll of 263, the first incident in 1913 is the second-deadliest mine disaster in U.S. history.
